Blue Star Integrative Studio was selected as a part of a design-build team to deliver the design and coordination for the renovation of a multi-use Community Facility on the campus of the Gate Church. The scope of work included as-built drawings, code analysis, structural analysis, full interior remodel and plan re-design, MEP upgrades, fire suppression design, and minor civil improvements.
The first story of the building contained storage spaces, restrooms, offices, a kitchen, and an entrance that contained two receptionists' desks and a waiting area. The Owner desired to reconfigure this ground floor area to accommodate a new Children's Day Care. This required demolition and reconfiguration of existing floor spaces and MEP systems. The design-build team worked closely with the Owner to make sure that existing floor plans and programmatic expectations were met while resolving technical and regulatory issues that met stakeholder standards and provided a safe, welcoming center for the end users.
