A Sustainable Farm System and Food Sovereignty Project on the Osage Indian Reservation of Oklahoma
Blue Star provided Project Leadership, Project Management and Stakeholder Facilitation for the creation of a large scale tribal asset dedicated to ecological restoration, food sovereignty, and cultural preservation. Coordinated with the Osage Nation Communities of Excellence program to develop a work plan, conduct research, log case studies, prepare for large-scale meetings to develop logic models, define vision, values and goals. Also, leading the effort to pull together a prioritized list of action items that fall into the areas of projects, programs, and policies.
Blue Star worked side by side with the Osage Nation on community engagement; data gathering & research; logic model and prioritization; stakeholder management; assisted with grant-writing and organizational capacity-building; project management; project narrative development; overall design development and task orders. Also provided coordination with the Executive Office of the Osage Nation regarding the Nation’s 25-year Strategic Plan.
This project is one of a kind for northern Oklahoma in that it mixes modern and more traditional Native American knowledge and lifeways with nearby non-Native community services and facilities. The result of this project coming to fruition over the next few years will be a great benefit to the Osage Nation, Osage County, and surrounding areas.
